Since
1913, Signode engineers have pioneered the way for many new packaging
materials, processes and designs, often establishing the benchmark
for packaging standards worldwide. In the 1990s, we introduced
polyester strapping as a viable alternative for steel strapping
and wire in a variety of industries, including forest products,
brick, metals, cotton and synthetic fibers. We also gained approval
from the Association of American Railroads (AAR) for the use of
high-strength polyester strapping on lumber and panel products
in open-top rail car shipments; and on brick cubes in closed rail
car shipments. Our Apex Plus steel strapping also earned AAR certification
for open-top railcar shipments in a wide range of regular-duty
applications. Utilizing Signode USLM-grade Magnus steel strapping,
we've set the industry standard for unit strap lifting method (USLM)
guidelines for loads of various weights, sizes and configurations.
These and other Signode developments are helping companies worldwide
to streamline their operations and save millions of dollars in
labor and materials every year.
