Reconnecting with Roots

Reconnecting with Roots is an initiative which gives employees an opportunity to create a social capital by proposing projects that will be supported under CSR. To make a difference within their local village or community this initiative encourages employees to recommend any development project within their sphere of influence.

Since the launch of the Reconnecting with Roots initiative under CSR, we have been gaining momentum and received 11 employee recommended projects across PAN India. We are excited to share that we have so far implemented projects in Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha and Rajasthan, by serving the needs of children studying in Government schools.

School Supplies from Signode

We are happy to share a project update under our CSR – Reconnecting with Roots initiative from Rishikesh which was recommended by Project lead Ashish Verma, Plant Head Rudrapur. With the idea to give back to the community he belongs and based on the request from the Government Primary school, Nehrugram, we provided our support by donating school supplies and desks and benches at the school. This project was successfully implemented by the project lead, who meticulously planned the project timeline despite working from Rudrapur. The ownership of the school authorities has helped a great deal in the bringing the project to completion on 20th March when the school supplies were distributed by a team of three employee volunteers including Ashish Verma who made their way to the school tucked in the foothills of Rishikesh.

Support provided for donation of Desks & benches at a remote Government School, Swaroop Sarai, Alwar, Rajasthan

This time around another project that was recommended under CSR – Reconnecting with Roots initiative was to provide our support by donating desks and benches at a remote Government school in Swaroop Sarai, Alwar, Rajasthan. The remote Government school is one of the well run and managed school’s which gives access to education for children in the village who otherwise are unable to enrol in private school based in towns. Our support is impacting 73 students which eases their school time giving them the comfort and access to desks and benches which was earlier a far-fetched dream as children would sit on the floor. The handover ceremony was organized by our Project Lead Hitesh Vashistha based out of the corporate office on Republic Day, the 26th of January 2024, in the presence of the village panchayat officials, school headmistress and the exciting children. The school is indebted to the support received from Signode India Foundation.
