The Challenge

We were challenged to reduce labor and material costs while providing a sustainable packaging solution for recreational vehicle replacement glass with multiple product applications.

In close collaboration with the customer we were able to identify the most suitable packaging solution. This was to replace the EPS foam blocks currently in use; our efforts aimed to provide effective protection for the product while aligning with organisation sustainability goals.

The Solution

Signode’s Engineered Solutions design team suggested replacing the expensive wooden side braces and expanded polystyrene (EPS) base pads with a sustainable honeycomb material. SUS-RAP® corrugated protection, a unique suspension product, completed this sustainable solution by replacing several top and bottom EPS pads.

This new packaging not only worked with various box sizes and glass SKUs but also reduced labor and material costs, streamlined the packaging process, and offered superior protection throughout the shipping cycle.
